The British monarch and his wife appeared to be relaxed while meeting with the patients and staff at the University College Hospital MCC in central London.
He talked to various patients receiving chemotherapy, including a 60-year-old patient Asha Millen suffering from bone marrow cancer. She asked about the well-being of the King to which he replied I’m well. He told another patient he would also receive his treatment in the afternoon. King Charles postponed his duties in February when he was getting treatment for an enlarged prostate.
The doctors made positive remarks saying that his progress is outstanding as an out-patient. Catherine, Princess of Wales, also received abdominal surgery and is now receiving chemotherapy for her cancer. The nature of her cancer is not disclosed to the public. Buckingham Palace said this event was the King’s first engagement. In the coming weeks, there will be more events to raise awareness about early cancer diagnosis.
After the death of his mother, Charles succeeded her and was officially crowned as a king on May 6, 2023. It is also said that the treatment of the King will continue while his duties will be reduced for an effective recovery, his schedule also includes a visit from the Emperor and Empress of Japan in June.
The patients of the Cancer centre rejoiced in meeting their King, and this visit lifted the spirits of both the patients and Charles. Due to the efforts of the King Charles people are becoming more aware about their health conditions and seeking out treatment for their symptoms.
It is one of the major issues as the patients don’t know about their own symptoms and get delayed diagnosis and a lot of patients keep it to themselves.
The King’s and his daughter-in-law’s diagnosis created a disturbance in the Royal family. William has also postponed his duties to support his wife. Queen Camilla has stepped forward to shoulder the duties of her husband Charles.
