The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl and the PTI had agreed as a result of February’s elections and announced that the elections were manipulated. The JUI-F has not been included in a six-party opposition union against the current government.
The JUI-F was a major driving force of the Pakistan Democratic Movement which rose to power after removing the PTI government through a no-confidence vote.
Supporters of the PTI took out rallies across Karachi on Friday to protest the imprisonment of party founder Imran Khan Niazi and demanded the government to take legal notice against the “domineering behaviour” of the authorities for denying the party its legal right to protest.
In the National Assembly session today, PTI member Asad Qaiser requested the Speaker of Parliament to ensure the party’s legal rights to protest. To which Fazal-ur-Rehman said, Asad Qaiser’s request is fair. Protesting is their right and I support their request.
However, Fazl added that the problem “goes beyond the right to protest” and is about the “state of the country”.
Calling on President Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N all well-known leaders and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, he said:
“Leave this power. Come and sit in the opposition benches and if the PTI is indeed the larger group then give them the government.”
Fazal-ul-Rehman
Fazal-ur-Rehman makes accusations about the governing parties of pursuing their interests while putting those of the country on the delay.
He also condemned the establishment’s interference in politics, saying politicians were left at the shoulder end the blame.
