Politicians are trying to recruit movie stars to run in the upcoming elections in order to boost their chances of winning.
It has been revealed that actor Govinda is discussing with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde about being Shiv Shinde’s nominee for the Mumbai North West constituency. Actress Sawara Bhaskar is reportedly being counted by Congress to run for office in the interim.
There are differing accounts regarding who approached first. According to some accounts, Govinda called the chief minister on Friday, March 22end, and requested a ticket. Meanwhile, other reports state that Eknath Shinde initiated contact and saw Govinda around 5 days ago.
There are rumours that the UddharThakray- let a fraction of the Shiv Sena has chosen to offer Amol Kirtikar the ticket for the same constituency.
Amol’s father, Shinde Sena member Ganjan Kirtikar is not interested in competing with his son. Eknath focused on Govinda as a result.
Both in Bollywood and political circles Govinda’s intention to re-enter from Mumbai North on congress ticket. In 2023 Govinda ended the BJP ‘s 5 term winning streak. The actor however comes under fire for not diverting enough attention to his political career.
In December 2016, Govinda stated in an interview with Bombay Times
“ I regret not entering politics more than I regret my film career. It was 10 years before I received a film. Although I had intended to leave politics while I was still involved. I served out my term and never looked back.”

However, Sawara Bhaskar who is well known for both her campaigning and acting prowess is rumoured to be one of the candidates the congress is thinking about for the Central Mumbai seat.
According to reports, Raj Babbar is the other contender who could receive the congress ticket for the same seat. I wonder why these Indian actors /actresses revert back to changing their careers by entering politics.
Be it Jaya Bahaduri, Jaya Parada or even Amitabh Bachan in the past. Maybe as everything has an expiry date these Bollywood stars also have an end to their stardom sooner or later now under these circumstances they have earned a living somehow so then they turn to politics.
