A rescue officer of Diamer District claims the bus belonged to a private company. Traveling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit Baltistan, the driver lost control near Gunar Farm. The bus lost its balance and toppled. It landed near the banks of the Indus River. The accident took place on Karakoram Highway early in the morning On Friday. The time was around 5:30 am. The damage to the bus was very bad.
Rescue teams help to transfer the injured to the Chilas Hospital. Initially, 35 were injured but many give in to their injuries later. Gilgit government declared that a total of 43 passengers were on the bus. Three women also died in this accident.
Rescue Operation has been completed as of now. 20 people have died and 21 people have suffered injuries. Five victims are in critical condition. The residents of the area announced the news of the accident through the loudspeakers of the mosque.
Organizers asked people to donate blood for the injured. Many people donated blood to the patients of the bus accident. The locals also helped in rescuing the passengers from under the bus wreckage.
PM Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his condolences to the families of the dead. He also advised the Local Government to provide the best treatment to the injured. President Asif Zardari also expressed his grief. He also passed his sympathies to the victims’ families.
Mohsin Naqvi also expressed sorrow over the incident and prayed for the early recovery of the victims.
